THIS HALLOWEEN
*serious face*
JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE NIGHT
according to the ^^^
"The city spreads out before you. Rushing from point to point, lit by the slow strobe of fluorescent buses and dark streets. Stumbling into situations for a stranger's signature. Fleeing unknown pursuers, breathing hard, admiring the landscape and the multitude of worlds hidden in it.
Journey to the End of the Night is a free street game across the haunted cityscape of San Francisco this Halloween. Players sporting orange ribbons will try to make it through six checkpoints on foot or by public transportation, while avoiding being caught by chasers. Those who survive will be praised and feted at the end. Those who fall will become chasers themselves, rising in undeath to pursue their former friends and allies. It works like a race or derive that keeps breaking out into games of tag or hide and seek.
The game begins on Saturday, October 31st, at 7:00 PM on Stuart St between Market and Mission (across the street from the Ferry Building). No bicycles, no skates, no cars, no taxis. You may only travel on foot or by public transportation. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring water."
MY understanding of the event is as follows; Journey to the End of the Night is an all-inclusive, handicapable-unfriendly, interactive game for boys and girls. I would like to say firstly that we are INCREDIBLY FORTUNATE to have this event here, in our city, especially when the last one was in Oakland like 6 months ago. These things don't get to happen too often. They take a shit load of work to put together by the SF0 gang. Who or what is SF0(or SFZero)? SF is an online community of bay area folk that are dedicated to testing themselves, and other users of the website in what they consider in interactive roleplaying game in which these users complete "tasks", which are the pre-designated challenges. Whew. I am a(embarrassingly inactive)member, and so is Danielle(except she kicks ass on the site).
I'd go more into the history and backgrounds of these sorts of public gaming events and the sort of work the Sf0 crew does, but that will be for later.
Why is Journey important? Because it fucking rules. We get chased. Like for real. People you don't know will come at you between these check points. I don't know about you, but I'm not getting fucking caught. I made the mistake of missing the last two of these that were in our area, and it's not happening again. The fact that we have this sort of opportunity on HALLOWEEN, well... I'm going to cum, I don't know what else to say. Journey is so much fun that Danielle is in Tahiti adventuring into all sorts of amazing things and she's still jealous she's going to miss this. Hahahaha HA!
MY POINT IS... no one catches a Bleacher Boy. I've already got lots of half-cocked ideas on how to get to the end, but before I go on,
Who's with me?
