A Shortlist In Regards To The New Call Of Duty

Reasons why you should at least play the single player campaign:

- Fighting with your Ranger unit through the suburbs of Washington after the Russian army invades

-Vehicle patrol through the alleyways of Afghanistan on a fireteam mission

-Going deep cover in a terrorist cell on a mission that involves shooting up an airport

- Watching an electromagnetic pulse from a nuclear missile detonated in high orbit clear the skies of hundreds of fighter planes and helicopters

- Assaulting an oil derrick with a special forces team via underwater insertion

I cannot believe they made this game like this. It's so amazingly uncompromising. You have to see it for yourself before the news talks about it, because everything is done so fucking well. The Rangers look, move and act EXACTLY as Rangers do, the locales look EXACTLY the way they should. There's a scene where you are coming out of a bomb shelter that is underneath one of the government buildings in D.C. and the way the fire plays out against the night sky as you are trudging through freshly dug trenches towards the street is fucking AMAZING. This definitely pushes the bar for shooters just in terms of political content alone, because of its depiction of what war would look like if we entered it full scale with a real country like Russia. The ending sort of falls apart like the last one but the experience as a whole is astounding.

I noticed they say "we're oscar-mike" a lot, which makes me wonder how much inspiration they took from Generation Kill, which for me at least is where that term became most familiar (it means 'on the move').
